A Little About Karl

Karl Kleinebreil

Karl Kleinebreil is a seasoned drummer with nearly 40 years of experience playing and over 25 years of expertise in teaching private drum lessons. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from Arizona State University. Karl is also certified in non-profit leadership, data analysis, project planning, and quality improvement. He maintains an Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card and serves as a director in integrated healthcare companies.

 

Karl’s musical background is impressive. He received 14 years of private drum and percussion lessons in Michigan and Arizona from four instructors, along with a year of private guitar and piano instruction. Awarded the John Phillip Sousa award in high school, Karl continued to play in school Jazz, orchestra and marching bands at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. His professional experience spans various styles and venues, and he teaches rock, jazz, funk, Latin, marching, and orchestral percussion and drums. Karl’s advanced knowledge of child and adult learning methods enhances his instruction, and he is dedicated to helping students become the drummers they aspire to be.

 

Karl is actively involved in the community, frequently volunteering for child welfare and recreation organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys extensive travel, visiting museums, attending plays, concerts, and parks with his wife and four children. He is committed to community development and has been a member of the Town of Queen Creek’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee since 2014.

 

Karl cites Buddy Rich as his biggest influence, with other major influences including Steve Gadd, Elvin Jones, Ron Bushy, Mike Mangini, Weckl, Peart, Bonham, Starr, and Escovedo. His passion for drumming is evident in his respect for past drummers and his drive to push the art form into the future.
